Special Drummers For Jesus Day
Our Savior Lutheran Church
Minot, North Dakota
Currently, there is no chapter of Drummers For Jesus in Minot, North Dakota. I (Bill Sargent) was in town to be a guest artist for the Magic City Jazz Festival and to work with middle school, high school, and college students in clinic and master class.
As long as I was making the trip, I extended my stay two days to do a Drummers For Jesus Get-Together on Saturday, and to worship with the elevenAM Gospel Band at Our Savior Lutheran Church on Sunday.
We had a very nice turn-out for the Get-Together. Drummers and family members came from up to a few hours away. We gathered from 9 am to 2 pm. I did about a three hour drum clinic, we had pizza for lunch, and we closed with a jam session.
Everyone had a great time and left with ideas of new possibilities, not only for their own personal drumming skills, but how to use their gifts and, hopefully, an increased desire to use them for God. I had two drummers indicating interest and commitment to start new chapters of Drummers For Jesus in North Dakota; one in Minot, and one in Grand Forks.
A very special thanks goes out to Pastor Paul Krueger and Bonnie at Our Savior Lutheran Church for all they did to support and help facilitate this event.
Also, a HUGE thanks goes out to Toby at Prairie Winds Band Instrument Repair for letting me use his fine set of drums for the week and Jacobson Music for supplying drums heads for me to beat on.
